Impact
I engaged Allison as a coach to develop strategies and confidence around building relationships with business unit managers. Allison made me feel comfortable and she was very interested in my issues and what I wanted to get out of the sessions from day 1. Allison always challenged me to analyse my behaviour and look at where my behaviour and fears were stemming from. Although I was challenged I never once felt uncomfortable about what was being discussed or questioned etc. Allison also challenged me in an effective way which I often use to challenge myself. I gained the ability to look closely at my fears and analyse why I have these fears, whether they are rational and how to practically overcome them. I also learnt things about always thinking about my purpose for communication to ensure I achieved what I need to when communicating with people. This has made me think more about how I present to my team and how to be a strong leader. The sessions increased my overall confidence in my dealings at work.
Expansion Consulting has been working with the Information Technology division of the RTA to facilitate a cultural change program with the objective of improving customer service. This has involved the design and delivery of a series of leadership, team based culture change and customer service interventions at all levels in the division. Allison has approached the work with enthusiasm and energy, with strong commitment to the success of the program and positive change in individuals and teams. Allison and the facilitators that work with her have earned high levels of respect and trust among teams during the workshops as well as the ongoing personal coaching that is part of the follow up.
Allison is a strong facilitator and coach with exceptional knowledge in the area of organisational culture and leadership. She consistently delivers programs of a high standard to maximise the value to us, as well as providing sound advice and consulting on our change efforts and leadership effectiveness. Her desire to thoroughly understand our business in all ways - strategy, people and culture, systems and processes - has allowed Allison to design a practical roadmap for change and build credibility at all levels in the organisation. She is clearly focused on outcomes from organisational change programs and reviews the design of the program regularly with this in mind. She is prepared to measure the effectiveness of her change efforts to ensure long term success of the program – and uses reliable diagnostic tools to provide us with feedback on our progress.
Allison has also facilitated a series of workshops for strategy development and organisational structure change in the division involving staff and leaders. The result of this consultative approach has been higher levels of staff engagement and commitment, improved morale and a clear strategy bringing greater focus on customer objectives. Most importantly, Allison demonstrates what she encourages in others – a constructive style of leadership (supportive, yet challenging), clear communication and strong commitment to achievement of results.
We engaged the services of Expansion Consulting to design and deliver facilitation training to our Business Analysts. Allison worked with us from the start to understand the key outcomes we wanted from the training and involved the participants in this process by surveying them for their views. The result was that the training was highly relevant, focused on their needs and the case studies and role plays used were realistic and kept the participants engaged. The content was logical, kept the participants involved, with a great mix of activities to keep them energised and focused. Our Business Analysts left the training with greater confidence in their facilitation skills and highly motivated to apply them. To support this, group coaching was conducted on a monthly basis following the program for participants to discuss how they had applied their new skills effectively. They worked through real case scenarios that were continuing to challenge them. From this, participants were able to build on strengths, be reminded of new skills that they perhaps hadn’t yet applied and learn from each other’s experiences. 12 months following the workshop, we continue to see the improvements in facilitation skills and the benefits to the business. We are thrilled with the outcome and will definitely run this training program again.
Expansion Consulting was contracted to ClearView Retirement Solutions to assist the business improving staff engagement and to build a better team environment. Allison’s experience and understanding in change management and people was very evident in her work style and this contributed greatly in the business moving forward. Allison is professional and thorough. She is someone who is willing to spend time with her client not only to recommend solutions but to work with us to establish and help drive a framework to help resolve a business need. Allison has a very easy going and friendly demeanour which allow staff to feel very comfortable when talking to her and this gave staff the means to raise issues that they would not otherwise have raised with management or their team leaders. Allison has shown a keen interest and commitment in the success of her work because she has regularly sought feedback and updates on the progress of our business and the impact of her work on the business. The result of Allison’s work was an increase in the business’ overall staff engagement and enthusiasm. Productivity has also increased as a result and staff are now working more as a team.
Allison led a 3 hour session on ‘Skills for Facilitation’ at our showcase event which attracted 82 environmental educators. She kept the audience enthusiastic and engaged the whole session and provided many new insights to a predominantly well trained crowd. A sample of the comments provided by the participants were: “Allison’s presentation offered many useful motivating tips” and “Allison was fantastic. Speaking clearly and calmly with highly useful info and activities”.
I would recommend Expansion Consulting to any professional who is endeavouring to learn and grow and be a more effective Leader. Allison is great at sharing her own experiences – she is honest (not much gets past her either), but she has a style that creates an incredibly safe and encouraging environment – Allison stretches you out of your comfort zone but that’s how she helps me get results.
CanTeen is the Australian organisation for young people (aged 12-24) living with cancer. We have approximately 70 staff working in ten offices around Australia. CanTeen’s culture is a strong blend of community values and effective work practices. We are committed to leadership and development at all levels in the organisation. Allison Keogh has facilitated several leadership development exercises for CanTeen, including conducting the Leadership Styles InventoryTM survey and followup coaching for each member of our National Management Team. She has also conducted the Leadership ImpactTM survey and coaching for the CEO on two occasions; the second building on progress made since the first. In addition, Allison has volunteered to help develop a mentoring program for CanTeen’s Members, and personally been involved as a coach in this pilot program. Allison’s style is warm but challenging. She provides practical advice and explores tangible ideas to help develop more constructive working behaviours. I have no doubt she has helped me make real improvements in the way that I lead and the impact I have on my team and other staff in the organisation. I believe she has the tools to support the learning and growth of people at all levels.
We used Allison Keogh to help a small executive management team with contrasting management styles to develop a more consistent leadership approach, as the organisation underwent strategic reorientation and cultural change. She recommended the Leadership/Impact inventory, which uses LSI principles to assess and coach leadership styles based on honest feedback of their impact on others. Our programme involved an initial 360 degree feedback questionnaire, analysis of results, an offsite team workshop and follow-up group and individual coaching.
We found the programme challenging, sometimes confronting but ultimately rewarding. Allison's positive, open and direct style complemented the formal materials and helped us apply them to get the best results in our own particular circumstances. Allison's cheerful, inclusive but firm style ensures that everyone is engaged, and that there is maximum opportunity for lasting change.
She was always well-prepared and knew her tools, but at the same time flexible enough to adjust the programme on the fly if this offered the prospect of better results. Plus, she has a great sense of humour which helped carry the work along in an enjoyable way. Apart from improving and aligning our leadership styles, the programme also built stronger team bonds in the executive group.
We engaged Allison on very short notice and she managed to impress us with the professional way in which she accepted the challenge of addressing our senior management team. Her presentation was entertaining, refreshing and thought provoking and provided an excellent groundwork for the change management process to commence at Auburn Council. It was a pleasure to work closely with Allison to ensure that the workshop was tailored to the needs of Auburn Council. Due to the short notice we were unable to provide Allison with a detailed project brief. Instead, she spent considerable time and effort asking me a range of questions to ensure that she teased out the important factors and which enabled her to understand the target audience. Allison is an excellent facilitator of change.
We have worked with Allison Keogh in the design and delivery of a series of leadership, team based culture change and customer service interventions. She has brought energy and creativity to the process of design. Additionally, in delivering the programs she has won confidence and trust of the teams during the workshops as well as the ongoing personal coaching that is part of the follow up. Allison is a very skilful trainer, change agent, facilitator and coach.
Brilliant coaching. Real and fun style, unwavering support, warm and inspirational and commercial. Allison is a very evolved coach who is also constantly learning herself. She brings so much more than the tools and she leverages many, which seems effortless and seamless to the coachee. I really love the humour and light heartedness Allison brings when needed. She is so astute as to when to push, challenge, inspire, empathise, or when to step back. I recommend Allison to all who want to expand their field of impact. She will help you reach your goals and fulfill your purpose as a leader.
As an entrepreneur, it is very hard to find a coach who has the ability to handle the inevitable alpha personalities and minor temper tantrums that come with that territory. Allison is that coach. The work she has done to evolve and enhance the effectiveness of my leadership as CEO, and the work she has done with my team has been invaluable. I have no hesitation recommending Allison to any CEO looking to build greater leadership capability, and drive cultural change into their business.
By far the best thing we have done for our team – ever. Allison has made a tremendous contribution to our practice through a combination of leadership development and facilitation of our strategy development.
She seamlessly draws on her training and theoretical knowledge as well as her vast personal experiences as a leader. She is comfortable challenging the status quo whilst accepting that change takes time, and she brings a positive energy to all sessions. She is also an incredibly efficient operator, managing the process from initial briefing though to planning, pre-work, documentation and follow up without a glitch. This was by far the best investment we have made in our company for years. Our culture continues to go from strength to strength and we can’t wait to have Allison back for our next workshop.
Allison has been transformational for our business. We had a number of the component parts in place (vision, mission, values, strategy, goals) but the parts weren’t coming together as a whole and we weren’t achieving our potential. Allison was instrumental in refining and linking the parts, with robust staff engagement, in a coherent manner to help us fully understand how to maximise our potential.
A number of fairly confronting issues were identified (and are being addressed), especially for the senior members of our organisation. These were raised in a non-judgmental and constructive manner that enabled full engagement from the team and accelerated the process of moving forward with a stronger culture. The hard issues were addressed, and we were provided with tangible tools (frameworks and checklists) to help effect change in a positive manner.
Allison has gone above and beyond her remit and I feel we have a very engaged partner who genuinely wants the best for our organisation and the people in it.
I would unreservedly recommend Allison to any business that is legitimately keen to make positive change, develop its people, and grow.
